Bruce Archer blends blues, bluegrass, country, and folk with masterful fingerpicking and slide guitar, honed over 50 years. His Iowa roots, musical influences, and years in the Minneapolis alt-rock scene merge to create instrumental and vocal performances that are gritty and authentic.
Archer's career has taken him from open mic nights in college, through forming, performing in and writing for bands that regularly played high profile alt-music clubs in Uptown, Downtown and West Bank Minneapolis, to performing solo in the north woods of Minnesota. He's enjoyed playing with some top-notch musicians as well as sharing the bill with such notables as Corey Medina & Brothers, Charlie Parr, Kelley Smith, The Jimmys, Cactus Blossoms, legendary bass guitarist Ronnie Lane (Small Faces), the Uppity Blues Women, the Jayhawks, the Gear Daddies’ frontman Martin Zellar, the Phones, and Run Westy Run.
Through it all, he has relied on his Iowa roots and sense of who he is, bringing a raw authenticity to his performances.
